Searching for a job can become a very long process. Patience and good preparation play an important role here. If you would like to avoid unnecessary conversations with random companies and find the IDEAL job, it is worth approaching the topic professionally by setting up a plan and focusing on all the necessary details. Below you can find a few tips that can help you with the job search.
1. ASK YOURSELF FIRST.
Yes, talk to yourself – what job positions are you looking for? Are you ready for a change at this point in your life? Do you want to work in the same industry or maybe change to something completely different? Find in which direction you would like to go. Once you know, try writing a list of industries and positions that may be appealing to you.
2. EXPECTATIONS VS REALITY CHECK.
It is worth considering an objective assessment of your qualifications and strengths – when applying for this sales position in an IT software company, are you sure you have enough knowledge of the industry? Are you qualified enough to create this marketing strategy which is required by a company X?
3. A PERFECT CV IS A KEY.
Here I don’t mean the number of competencies, completed projects nor training. In this case, “the more the better” does not always work well. A good CV can’t be a universal document, it has to be adjusted to a specific job offer. Once you prepared a few CV versions for specific types of positions, it is worth uploading them on your phone – to be able to quickly apply for jobs.
4. LET THEM FIND YOU!
If you haven’t done it yet, create an account on LinkedIn – this platform is still number one among recruiters looking for talent. LinkedIn also gives you the possibility to add an “open to new opportunities” status so it is even easier to find you there.
5. ASK YOUR FRIENDS/NETWORK.
It might seem obvious, but many of us still don’t feel comfortable asking or simply don’t know what exactly they should ask for. Talk to your friends about their workplaces, what employees their companies search for, maybe they have a referral system in their organizations and they can recommend you?
